CEO & Founder

Dr. Ernest P. Chan, 
CEO

Ernie is an award-winning quantitative hedge fund manager and quant finance author. Previously he has applied his expertise in machine learning at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center, Morgan Stanley, and Credit Suisse.

Research & Engineering Team

Sergei Belov, 
Head of Research

Sergei has spent more than 10 years in quant finance and portfolio management at Morgan Stanley, Bloomberg, and BNP Paribas. His experience is in engineering and onboarding services for clients. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics at MIT and is also a Harvard University Fellow.

Jai Balaji Sukumar, Principal ML Engineer

Experienced software developer and machine learning engineer committed to bringing machine learning models into accessible real-world solutions. Have worked on multiple software systems, data science, and machine learning projects in diverse environments such as Product Development teams, Client projects, Innovation lab, and AI Center of Excellence. Has an Integrated Masters in Information Technology and an Applied Computing Masters in machine learning.

Akshay Nautiyal, 
Head of Data Science

Akshay has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a diploma in AI, and is a CFA Candidate. He has worked in a systems engineering firm, academia (published in ML/NLP), a financial ed firm and an asset management firm. His passions include Global Macro and Quant Finance.

Sudarshan Sawal, Head of Products

Sudarshan is working as a Product Manager at PredictNow.ai while pursuing MSc in Economics and BE in Electronics Engineering from BITS Pilani Goa, India. He is responsible for managing a team of developers to maintain and provide new functionalities. He specializes in quantitative finance and financial machine learning.

Haoyu Fan, Data Scientist

Before joining PredictNow.ai, Haoyu earned his Ph.D. in Astrophysics and worked as a staff member at Western University. He was also a visiting scholar at the University of Chicago and experienced in modelling large data sets. Haoyu is now using ML for portfolio optimization.

Erik MacDonald, 
Head of Business Development

Erik is an MBA graduate at DeGroote School of Business specializing in Business Analytics. Previously, he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.

Jessica Watson, 
Head of Design

Jessica received her degree in New Media from Ryerson University’s RTA School of Media in Toronto, Ontario. As Head of Design, she is in charge of content creation, copy editing, web development and all digital design for PredictNow.ai

The Advisors

André Boeder

André is a German FinTech serial-entrepreneur. He was the founder of an online payment gateway company which was sold to MasterCard in 2010. As part of the acquisition, André became the Managing Director of MasterCard’s Payment Gateway Service business in Continental Europe. He later went on to found an online payment guarantee business, using artificial intelligence techniques to offer payment guarantees to merchants. It was sold to Verifone in 2017 and André became Managing Director of Verifone’s payment guarantee and mobile payment business. He is currently the founder and Managing Director of Deltaventure, an M&A, investment and consulting company, as well as AlphaQuant Capital, a developer of algorithmic trading models.

Dr. Roger Hunter

Roger is the founder and former CEO of a scientific software firm that was acquired by Thomson Reuters. His firm’s software is currently in use at the U.S. Federal Reserve. Roger was formerly professor of mathematics at New Mexico State University, and he obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Australian National University. Roger has been featured in Bloomberg Businessweek article.

Neil Seeman

Neil Seeman (with degrees from Harvard, the UofT and Queen's) historically led research initiatives in healthcare 2.0 at IBM Canada and founded and led the Health Strategy Innovation Cell at the University of Toronto. He is founder and Chairman of RIWI (TSXV: RIWI) where he was CEO for 10 years. He is the co-author of several books, over 25 peer reviewed journal articles and hundreds of media articles about healthcare and data innovation. Neil has received diverse grant funding for his public health and Big Data research, including, most recently, from the New Frontiers in Research Fund (for his work with the Fields Institute of Mathematical Sciences). At the UofT, Neil has academic affiliations with Massey College, the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, the Investigative Journalism Bureau, and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation.
